1 John The Believer’s Guide to Assurance
By Robert Jones
The Epistle of John is like a precious gem, permeating light from every angle by which it is viewed. The love of God the Father in choosing a people whom Christ came to redeem by His blood, and the work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating these people appear throughout the epistle. The great change which transforms the lives of these saints when they are translated from the kingdom of the evil one into the kingdom of God’s dear Son become evidence to them that they are indeed the children of God, ad lest they grow careless in their conduct, warnings against all manner of sin, even the sin unto death, are included. Let it be said, “Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart” (Psa. 73:1).
